Multiple award-winning Jamaican performing artist, Ras Charmer, is set to premiere a 3rd visual ”Music is Life”, track 10 from his currently released album Hitz Magic. The visual is slated for release on YouTube on the 23rd January 2021 at 6pm GMT.

Music is Lifewas shot by IceyJace Films crew, in the tropical island of Jamaica, incorporating the warm vibrant colours and scenery mixed with fusions of nature and drums.  The concept behind the video is to give hope, strength and courage to all people who have been affected by the current global climate change and challenges afflicting the world.

The Hitz Magicalbum since its release has garnered over 600,000 streams across all digital platforms including YouTube, Amazon, Spotify, Itunes etc. It also has a video for the title track Hitz Magic  which received an award from the Reggae Fraternity in UK for  Best UK single.

Ras Charmer told 233News in a phone interview that despites the negatives amidst the lockdown during the spread of Covid-19, he was able to brace the storm to continue promoting his brand and music.

He said, first, prophecy was fulfilled in 2019 before the Covid- Era when he visited Ghana during the year of return and shot his first video “Better Way Out” and the experience was like an escape out of Babylon -coming home to Africa. He returned to London where he is based and then to Jamaica to shoot his second video, Hitz Magic , the title track of the album.

In 2020, he was in Ghana again and performed at a show in East-Legon. The unfortunate happened when he lost his mother through pneumonia but regardless God’s blessing has not ceased. Ras Charmer said he and his team were able to mobilise for the release of Hitz Magicin June.

“so in the whole epidemic vibes of corona, we released this album and each song resonates with the people, to uplift them, their soul, throughout these troubled times. After losing my mum, I can say positively she has been a part of my soul, build our strength within the music to deliver positive message to the people throughout the time when Babylon already lose it- loss of jobs, school and kids at home. So that is the time where Zion Charm through the poems of God strengthens the people with this album, Hitz Magic.

Ras Charmer told 233News he was unable to physically receive the award for Best UK single from the UK Reggae Fraternity because of the Covid but throughout the period, the album has been doing very well with 200k streams in 93 different countries. “So God is great, within the negativity we make positivity and we stand out”, he said.

On why he chose to shoot “Music is Life” in Jamaica, Charmer said, being a Jamaican and an African, repatriation is a must.

“We got the opportunity to shoot the first video in Ghana, second video in Jamaica, third video also in Jamaica, why, because England is kind of gloomy, yeah, it’s not always like Jamaica or Africa. It is overcast, gloomier, depression and the sound ‘Music is Life’, is a people song and to give the people that hope, that strength, even through the visuals we could not have a gloom so I went to Jamaica to get that warmth, the sunshine and link up with my Rasta original foundation, which I bring in the video within the Nayabingi sound, Nayabingi order- which is the first music, and in times like these within prayer we need that foundation and heartbeat, because music is the heartbeat, and so to get the original sound we went to Jamaica to get all that, which we couldn’t get here in England”.

Ras Charmer said the title track “Music is Life” track is special because it is representing the gift that God has given him, which is music. Music is life, so while we are living we all need music. My music is to touch the soul of the people, the heart and to reset the mindset of the people to the original way of life, which is love for all humanity, you know, equal rights and justice. So this song Music is Life is for the people, to uplift the people, to give the people hope in these troubled times as a line in the music quotes Bob Marley – ‘Everything is gonna be alright’. Good shall always triumph over evil so music is life and it will never die, we have something that will never die which is Jah love for each and everyone”. �
